General

What should I look out for when painting the exterior?

An exterior coat of paint not only protects the façade, but also the building fabric. It is important to prepare the substrate correctly, choose a high-quality, weather-resistant façade paint and pay attention to temperature and weather conditions. With ClimateCoating®, you also benefit from heat-regulating properties and long durability.

Do I need a primer?

A primer is useful for highly absorbent, sandy or new substrates for interior and exterior use. It improves adhesion, ensures an even surface and extends the service life of the paint. Solid, already painted surfaces can often be painted over directly.

How do I calculate the paint requirement?

Multiply wall height x wall width x consumption according to the technical data sheet of the product (e.g. 5 liters for approx. 15 m² with 2 coats). For uneven or highly absorbent substrates, the consumption increases accordingly. Allow a reserve of 10-15 % to compensate for reworking or absorbency of the substrate.

Can facade paint be painted over?

If the old coat is sound and clean, it can be painted over without any problems. Loose or damaged areas should be removed and repaired in advance. Priming is recommended for heavily chalked surfaces.

Can paint contribute to thermal insulation?

Yes, because dry façades insulate better, and this is possible with special energy-saving paint. Modern façade paints with heat-reflecting properties act like a functional coating: they reflect solar radiation, prevent the façade from overheating in summer, regulate humidity and reduce heat loss in winter. If you coat your façade with ClimateCoating®, you improve the protection of the building envelope, save heating costs, electricity and energywithout any additional insulation. Such a solution also supports sustainable thermal insulation of the façade in both new and existing buildings.

Product features & functionality

What makes ClimateCoating® so effective?

Our products are innovative, energy-saving functional coatings for facades, roofs and interiors. They keep buildings cool in summer by reflecting heat radiation and store heat in winter. Natural evaporative cooling and moisture regulation provide long-term protection against mold, moisture and soiling. Thanks to their UV and weather resistance, they ensure façade protection, energy savings and a healthy indoor climate in almost all climate zones.

How does ClimateCoating® protect the façade?

ClimateCoating® paints ensure a durable exterior coating and provide long-term protection for facades. They reflect heat, store heat, regulate moisture and cool the surface in a natural way. At the same time, they prevent mold and soiling and are UV and weather resistant. In this way, facades remain energy-efficient, visually attractive and retain their value.

What are the advantages of interior painting?

ClimateCoating® interior paints ensure even heat distribution in the room and thus optimally regulate humidity. This reliably prevents mold growth. At the same time, the functional paints create a pleasant, healthy indoor climate, improve energy efficiency by storing heat and contribute to a comfortable living environment. They are also environmentally friendly, low-emission and particularly durable, so that your walls remain protected in the long term.

How is humidity regulated?

Our functional paints act like a “breathing” system: they absorb excess humidity and release it again when the air is dry. This reduces condensation and prevents mold growth – without any chemical additives. The result is a healthy indoor climate that increases well-being and protects the building fabric.

How long does the protection and color last?

With professional application and care, ClimateCoating® functional coatings retain their full protective and color effect for many years. Outdoors, the special surface provides reliable protection against weathering and UV radiation, while interiors benefit from durable, easy-care coatings. In this way, facades and living spaces remain energy-efficient, visually appealing and low-maintenance – renovation coatings are usually only necessary after many years.

Energy efficiency & climate comfort

What is summer thermal insulation?

Summer thermal insulation refers to measures that prevent buildings from heating up excessively when exposed to strong sunlight . In addition to structural solutions such as shading, special interior and exterior coatings such as ClimateCoating® also contribute to this. They reflect solar and infrared radiation, reduce surface temperatures and keep rooms pleasantly cool – without the need for additional air conditioning.

What is winter thermal insulation?

Winter thermal insulation includes all measures that reduce heat loss from the inside of the building and save heating costs. In addition to classic insulation, innovative façade paints such as ClimateCoating® support this effect. They reduce heat radiation via the building envelope so that rooms stay warm for longer and heating costs can be reduced – while at the same time allowing the façade to breathe.

How does energy-saving paint work?

Our functional coatings act like an intelligent climate system: in summer, they reflect heat radiation and reduce the heating of facades and roofs, while in winter they store heat for longer. In this way, the coatings noticeably reduce energy costs, increase living comfort and ensure a pleasant indoor climate in all climate zones.

Thermal insulation paint for roof & façade?

Roofs and façades are exposed to high temperatures in summer. The heat-reflecting façade coating and roof coating from ClimateCoating® noticeably reduce surface heating, minimize heat build-up in attics and reduce material stress. This makes roof and wall surfaces more durable, the indoor climate remains pleasant and the building fabric is protected – for energy-efficient, sustainable buildings in all climate zones.

How does evaporative cooling work?

Our innovative paint formulation contains, among other things, microscopically small hollow ceramic beads that absorb water and allow it to evaporate in a controlled manner. This natural cooling mechanism removes heat from surfaces, ensures noticeably more pleasant temperatures in summer and reduces the energy required for air conditioning. This keeps the indoor climate comfortable, efficient and sustainable.

Sustainability & protective effect

Does facade paint protect against algae & fungus?

ClimateCoating® facade paint protects against algae, moss and fungal infestation – without any chemical biocides. The innovative, capillary-active membrane structure reliably transports moisture from the surface to the outside and keeps facades dry. Algae, moss and fungi thus lose their basis for life. At the same time, the UV-resistant, dirt-repellent surface ensures that dirt and nutrients can hardly accumulate. The result: long-lasting façade protection, healthy building fabric and less cleaning and renovation work – ideal for residential buildings, commercial properties and industrial plants.

Are the coatings sustainable?

Our functional coatings actively contribute to resource conservation and sustainability. Their particularly long service life reduces the need for frequent repainting, thereby lowering material and energy consumption. In addition, the thermal insulation and evaporative cooling properties minimize heating and cooling costs. In this way, you save energy, protect the environment and at the same time invest in the long-term value retention of residential buildings, commercial buildings and industrial facilities.

Does wood preservative paint provide long-term protection outdoors?

ClimateCoating® wood protection paint offers long-lasting weather protection for all exterior wood surfaces. It reliably protects against UV radiation, moisture and temperature fluctuations, significantly reducing cracking, warping and flaking. The breathable, water-repellent surface preserves the natural structure and color of the wood for many years. Whether for houses, garden furniture, façades, carports, pergolas or industrial wood – ClimateCoating® wood protection paint ensures long-lasting, well-maintained surfaces and noticeably reduces the amount of maintenance required.

Application & practice

How is ClimateCoating® applied?

ClimateCoating® can be applied like conventional paint with a roller, brush or spray gun. When applying with airless equipment, observe the following instructions:

Filters & strainers: Remove gun filter; use suction strainer and appliance filter with mesh size > 0.5 mm to avoid damaging the hollow glass ceramic bodies.

Nozzle: Bore size 17-23 (0.017-0.023″ inch); for larger surfaces such as walls, ceilings or facades, use wider spray jets (40-60°) to cover as much area as possible with each arm movement.

Pressure: 80-130 bar – high enough for an even, smooth spray pattern, but not too high to avoid paint mist and equipment wear. If the spray pressure is set optimally, the spray pattern flows out smoothly without leaving streaks.

Spraying technique: Spray gun at a 90° angle and 15-30 cm away from the substrate, uniform speed without swiveling. Carry out a spray test on masking paper in advance to check the pressure and spray pattern.

With these settings, you can achieve a uniform, edge-free spray pattern and protect both the material and the equipment.

Can I apply coatings myself?

ClimateCoating® functional coatings can generally be applied by yourself as they are easy to apply. However, for optimum results in terms of appearance, uniform coating thickness and maximum long-term protection, it is advisable to commission a specialist company. This will ensure that the thermal regulation, moisture regulation and long-term protection of your façades or interiors are fully effective.

Which surfaces are best suited?

ClimateCoating® functional coatings are suitable for many substrates such as plaster, concrete, plasterboard, wood, metal or existing old coatings. It is crucial that the surfaces are clean, dry and stable in order to ensure the full effect of thermal regulation, moisture regulation and long-term protection. This gives you a long-lasting, energy-efficient result – ideal for facades, interiors and industrial applications alike.

Does ClimateCoating® work on old coatings?

Yes, in most cases our coatings can be applied to existing coatings without any problems. The surfaces should be thoroughly cleaned beforehand and primed if necessary to ensure optimum thermal regulation, moisture control and long-term protection. In this way, existing façades, interiors and industrial surfaces can be sustainably upgraded and protected in an energy-efficient manner –without the need for extensive renovation work.

How quickly does ClimateCoating® dry?

ClimateCoating® is quick-drying: the surface is dry to the touch after just a few hours and fully resilient after around 24 hours. This fast drying enables efficient work in the residential, commercial and industrial sectors, reduces downtime and ensures that thermal regulation, moisture control and long-term protection take effect immediately. Fast and efficient renovations in the interior and exterior painting sector are easy to implement.
